Pu-Yu Wu – An Expedition with Schocker

Gary Schocker is one of the finest flutists of his generation, also a pianist, harpist, teacher, and the most published living composer of flute music with currently over 400 works in publication. He has written over 1,400 pieces for piccolo, piano, harp, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, horn, two pianos, piano four hands, as well as works for flute, chamber music, many songs, theatrical works and children’s musicals.

Pu-Yu Wu, a musician based on the Central Coast (originally from Taiwan, whose mother-in-law was from Gulgong), has been studying with Gary Schocker since 2020, is going to share a repertoire of music that Gary especially wrote for solo flute only. It will be an adventure to explore Gary Schocker’s “Flute Forest”, “What’s Old Is New”, “Mokuhanga”, “Short Stories” and more…
