Back to Gulgong Long Weekend

Gulgong MADS & The Prince of Wales Opera House are pleased to announce the Back to Gulgong schedule that will take place over the  October long weekend (03/10/2024 – 07/10/2024). The weekend will see current and past Gulgong musicians performing as well as a host of well-known traditional musicians from all over the country.

Featured at the Prince of Wales Opera House over the weekend is Bob Campbell, Home Rule, Rex Havoc, Pu-Yu Wu as well as Musicians, Poets and Folklorists. For full details of the events being held here please hit the button below.

About The Opera House

The Prince of Wales Opera House is a historic building located in Gulgong, a former gold rush town in the Central tablelands of New South Wales, near the tourist town of Mudgee. It is the oldest still-operating Opera House in the Southern Hemisphere.

The venue ie now used for various cultural events such as concerts, plays, and exhibitions. The building has been recognised as an important heritage site and is listed on the State Heritage Register of New South Wales.

The opera house has several rooms available for hire, including the main hall with a seating capacity of up to 300 people. The stage in the main hall is equipped with state-of-the-art audio and lighting systems, making it an ideal venue for concerts and performances in the Mudgee region.

Gulgong Musical and Dramatic Society (MADS)  work together to maintain the historical Prince of Wales Opera House.
