About the Artists

Pu-Yu Wu

Taiwanese-born Australian flutist, pianist, and music educator Pu-Yu Wu has been sharing the joy of music through teaching, performance, and community engagement for more than 30 years. Director of Intuition Music School in Gulgong, she believes music is for everyone and has taught students from the age of three to ninety-two. Passionate about introducing audiences to inspiring and lesser-known repertoire, Pu-Yu enjoys creating concerts that encourage people to discover, enjoy, and connect with music.

Paul Young

Paul Young is an accomplished collaborative pianist, musical director, and music educator. He is the CEO and Artistic Director of Macquarie Conservatorium in Dubbo and has held senior music positions at leading Australian schools, including Knox Grammar School, Redlands, The Scots College, McDonald College of Performing Arts, and Calvary Christian College. A highly sought-after collaborative pianist, Paul has toured internationally and worked on major productions including Wicked, Miss Saigon, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, and Las Vegas.

About the Composer

Gary Schocker is one of today’s most celebrated composers for the flute. An internationally acclaimed flutist, pianist, and composer, he has written more than 1,800 works and continues to compose prolifically. Many of his compositions have become favourites among performers around the world. His music is admired for its lyrical beauty, vivid storytelling, rich harmonies, and distinctive blend of classical tradition with jazz, folk, and contemporary influences.

For the past six years, Pu-Yu Wu has had the privilege of studying with Gary Schocker, whose guidance has profoundly shaped her musical journey. A Turning Year – Four Seasons with Schocker is both a celebration of his remarkable music and a heartfelt tribute to a teacher whose generosity, creativity, and friendship continue to inspire musicians across the world.
